An optical reflector concentrates a light that would otherwise spread everywhere. Zoomed to 15° it gives a tight, contrasty spot for a rim or a background accent; opened to 55° it becomes a controlled wash that still keeps its edge.
The optics are the difference between this and a plain metal reflector. High borosilicate glass in an aluminium alloy housing transmits far more of the light and holds a cleaner beam edge, without the colour shift cheaper glass introduces.
It uses a standard Bowens mount, so it fits the COB lights most studios already own, and at 569g it adds little to what the stand is carrying.
