A beauty dish sits between a hard reflector and a softbox: crisp enough to show texture and jawline, soft enough to be flattering. It is the classic portrait and cosmetics modifier.
The central deflector bounces light back into the dish before it reaches the subject, which is what produces the distinctive circular falloff and the ring-shaped catchlight.
Add the honeycomb grid to stop spill reaching the background.
