The K&F Concept KF150 Macro Ring Flash (KF22.005) is a dedicated ring flash designed for close-up and macro photography with compatible Canon DSLR cameras. By placing the flash around the front of the lens, it provides direct, even illumination that helps reduce harsh shadows in close-up subjects.
This makes it particularly useful for macro, scientific, medical, product, and detail photography. In addition, the two flash tubes can be controlled independently, giving you more flexibility when shaping the light.
GN14 Flash Output
The KF150 provides a GN14 guide number, giving you useful illumination for close-range photography. Its flash range is approximately 20cm to 5m, depending on the shooting conditions and selected settings.
For macro work, the ring design helps place light directly around the subject. As a result, small details can appear more clearly without relying entirely on ambient light.
E-TTL Automatic Flash
One of the main advantages of the K&F Concept KF150 is its E-TTL automatic flash support for compatible Canon cameras. The camera and flash can work together to help determine an appropriate exposure, making it easier to get started with macro lighting.
At the same time, photographers who prefer more control can switch to manual operation.
Multiple Flash Modes
The KF150 offers several shooting modes to suit different situations:
- E-TTL automatic flash
- Manual flash
- Multi-flash mode
- Rear-curtain synchronization
Therefore, you can use automatic exposure when you want a quick setup or switch to manual settings when you need more precise control over the lighting. Multi-flash mode can also create repeated flash exposures during a single composition.
Independent Flash A and B Control
The ring flash uses two separate flash tubes, referred to as Flash A and Flash B. Each side offers 8 levels of brightness adjustment, allowing you to control the balance of light around the lens.
You can also adjust the ratio between the two sides from 1:8 to 8:1 in 1/2-stop increments. This is useful when you want one side of the subject to appear slightly brighter than the other instead of creating completely flat lighting.
Six Lens Adapter Rings Included
The KF22.005 comes with six adapter rings for different lens filter thread sizes:
- 52mm
- 55mm
- 58mm
- 62mm
- 67mm
- 77mm
Because of this, you can use the ring flash with a range of compatible macro and close-up lenses without purchasing separate adapter rings.
Backlit LCD Display
A backlit dot-matrix LCD display makes the flash settings easier to read, particularly when you’re working in darker environments.
The display gives you a clearer view of the selected settings, while the straightforward controls make it easier to adjust the flash before taking the shot.
LED Assist Light
The KF150 also includes an LED assist lamp that can help with focusing and composition in close-up situations. This can be especially useful when the subject is small or the shooting area doesn’t have much light.
Meanwhile, the flash itself handles the actual illumination when you take the photograph.
Thermal Protection
During extended use, the flash monitors its internal temperature and can limit firing when temperatures become too high. This helps protect the unit during demanding shooting sessions.
Built for Macro and Close-Up Photography
The ring-style design makes the K&F Concept KF150 Macro Ring Flash particularly useful for subjects that are photographed from a short distance.
Typical applications include:
- Macro photography
- Insect photography
- Jewelry photography
- Small product photography
- Scientific documentation
- Medical photography
- Nature photography
- Close-up portraits
- Detail photography
So, instead of depending on a separate off-camera light for every close-up shot, you can keep the illumination positioned directly around the lens.
