95mm is the Mirage’s own clamp diameter, so this ring is the shortest path between a large photo zoom or a cine lens and the matte box. It screws into the 95mm filter thread on the front of the lens and the Mirage clamps straight onto it with its thumbscrew.
One difference from the smaller rings is worth knowing before you buy: at 95mm there is no material left for a front filter thread, so this ring will not take a screw-on filter. Use the Mirage’s 4 x 5.65″ trays or its magnetic VND for filtration instead.
The ring is machined from aluminium alloy and anodised black. It is stiff enough to carry the matte box off the lens alone, light enough not to unbalance a gimbal, and sits close enough to the barrel to keep stray light out from behind the matte box.
If you shoot a mix of diameters, keep a ring on each lens. Swapping the Mirage between them is then a matter of loosening one thumbscrew.
